What is the Royal Vault?

Vault

One of the Royal Vault Entrances

The Royal Vault was a underground entrance underneath the entrance bridge of Sanctuary to two doors that could be accessed inside and containing chests with lots of items like clothes, shards, weapons, etc. The Royal Vault had a members and a non-members door into getting items . To be able to access the vault you needed to only enter it as if it was a minigame/battle, once you were inside the Royal Vault you needed only Treasure Tickets which were able to get by doing any quest from people in Scared Grove to open the chests that contained the items. Inside the non-members Royal Vault entrance you had 3 chests to decide from contained of any job and any item. The non-members chests were from the prices 30 tickets for a good item or an okay item for 20 tickets or a cheap item for 10 tickets. The Members Royal Vault entrance had 16 chests to decide from and all of the chests were containing all amazing items from all jobs that were available but also a consumable items chest, these chests needed about 30 tickets to be able to open.

Why was the Royal Vault closed?

Members of Free Realms development team have stated that the vault was closed in an effort to enhance the reward systems available within the game. One of the primary mechanics added to the game after the closure was a prize wheel available when a player successfully completes most of the mini-games or dungeons.

Additionally, game designers felt that the tickets required to redeem prizes within the Royal Vault were essentially another type of currency along with Coins and Station Cash. This means that removing tickets as a currency was also on of the objectives accomplished by closing the Royal Vault.

Other reasons for closing the Royal Vault have been speculated widely, although most of these opinions are based on player perceptions rather than verifiable or confirmed information from Sony Online Entertainment.

One conspiracy suggests that Sony Online Entertainment removed the Royal Vault in an effort to artificially inflate item values and profit from the increasing rarity of the items which were only available from the Royal Vault.
